This song is good! The album, apparently, not so good. Pitchfork wraps up their review by saying: “still, if they get so excited about the mundane details of travel (‘paaaaaaaaayed the bus faaaaaaaare!’), then maybe touring outside of New York will give them more material as worthy as ‘Hey Now Now’.”

There are a lot of things I like about this song, but if you look at the end of the lyrics you can see this part with where she says ‘on the radio (uh-oh!)’ and that’s definitely my favorite part.

Seattle band Vells‘s EPK says that “Vells have managed to fuse light and dark into a visceral musical experience that’s good for the soul.” I don’t know if that’s 100% true, but I think it’s safe to say that, in the press photo above, they at least seem like they’re capable of that.

There was a castle and it was very dark,
And there was a beast live inside the castle.
There was 125 + 3 wolves that been there
And a little girl went to the castle,
And her dad told her not to go there.
And the beast ate her.
That’s why her dad told her not to go there.
That’s why he said that because he loves her,
And he knows the beast will eat her.
That’s a very scary story and there’s
3+1, 4+1 wolves.

Geez Louise! Good news from the Favourite Sons: they’ve signed to Vice Records and have a record due on September 12!

Also, You Ain’t No Picasso has some live recordings of a recent KEXP-sponsored event in Soho.

Huddle Formation, the single for 2004′s Thunder Lightning Strike, is totally awesome. And so is this live version.

The Happy Bullets describe the virtues of aristocracy thusly:
We all laugh endlessly
Extend our pinkies when we drink
and thumb our noses
at the lower classes
in the penny seats!

‘Is there a dog in here?’ So begins the halfassed but adorable new acoustic version of the a-fore-blogged Raconteurs single Steady as She Goes, now the iTunes free download of the week.
I wish I had comments on this blog – I’d like to know what people think on this one.

I love this song (by plusorminus)!
