This song by School of Seven Bells got me through a bumpy flight this morning. Get their album Ghostory. It’s so nostalgic! It reminds me of something that happened 20 years ago, but I can’t remember what it was now. Perhaps you can remind me?
In honor of Mark Shikuma’s birthday this past weekend, I present here the first mix CD we made together from our DJ days at Lolita. We distributed these discs on notoriously impractical black CDs as a souvenir. This one is from October ’02.
This song is good! The album, apparently, not so good. Pitchfork wraps up their review by saying: “still, if they get so excited about the mundane details of travel (‘paaaaaaaaayed the bus faaaaaaaare!’), then maybe touring outside of New York will give them more material as worthy as ‘Hey Now Now’.”
